Stephanie Valadão is a Toronto-born artist of Portuguese decent. Her digital and hand screen-printed designs, which are influenced by Azulejos (Portuguese ceramic tiles), have a strong focus on geometric shapes and repeated patterns. Recently, her photographs of Toronto architecture have also become an inspiration for her work. Playing with the juxtaposition of vertical and horizontal forms, Stephanie has begun to incorporate both influences in her designs, combining her Portuguese heritage and Canadian roots.
Educated in Fashion Arts and Costume Studies for Film and Television at Seneca, Stephanie has extensive experience in the fashion industry. Stephanie is currently a technician and professor at Seneca College in the School of Fashion, where she teaches drawing and illustration. She is a member at the Contemporary Textile Studio Co-op and sits on their Board of Directors. Stephanie’s clients include both domestic and international partners. She is looking to work with people who are interested in one of a kind designs or commissions.
