Stephanie Valadão is a Toronto-born artist of Portuguese descent. Her digital and hand screen-printed designs, influenced by Azulejos (Portuguese ceramic tiles), have a strong focus on geometric shapes and repeated patterns. Recently, her photographs of Toronto architecture have also become an inspiration for her work. Playing with the juxtaposition of vertical and horizontal forms, Stephanie has incorporated both influences in her designs, combining her Portuguese heritage and Canadian roots.
Educated in Fashion Arts, Honours Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies, Costume Studies for Film and Television at Seneca, Stephanie has extensive experience in the fashion industry. Stephanie is currently a technician at Seneca College in the School of Fashion. She is a former member at the Contemporary Textile Studio Co-op and was on their Board of Directors. Stephanie’s clients include both domestic and international partners. She is looking to work with people who are interested in one-of-a-kind designs or commissions.
